Lard Dish Soap (3 bars)
Description
Our solid lard dish soap is made from simple ingredients: saponified lard and coconut oil. We take lard and coconut oil and combine it with lye and filtered water to produce a solid bar that is both sudsy and soft on your skin. Once the bars have cured, no lye remains in the bar, just saponified lard that rinses clean. Each bar lasts up to two weeks.
Includes 3 bars of soap.
Solid Lard Dish Soap
You’ll never go back to liquid dish soap again.
Liquid dish soap has only been mass-produced since the 1980s. Before that, families used homemade solid dish soap made with lye.
When you combine a fat (any fat) with lye and water, a chemical reaction takes place (called soaponification) which leaves you with a solid, sudsy bar of soap with zero lye in the end product.
Traditionally, families had access to animal fats like lard and tallow. It wasn’t until the interventional of large scale manufacturing that plant oils became the mainstream soap choice.
But what is truly sustainable?
We believe our single-ingredient, traditional solid lard soap is the best option for your dish care.
Our lard dish soap is clean, simple, and sudsy, and contains none of the harmful chemicals found in conventional dish soap such as:
- Phosphates
- Triclosan
- SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)/SLES (sodium laureth sulfate) ...
- Fragrance
- DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (monoethanolamine), TEA (triethanolamine) ...
- Chlorine
- Formaldehyde
- Ammonia
Our lard dish soap is small-batch, fragrance-free, paraben-free, and nourishing to your skin.
Once you try solid dish soap, there’s no going back.
